Establishment & Mandate:

The Global College Tanzania Limited was established in 1997 as an Executive agency to offer training in various fields so as to cope with the challenges of increased high rate of unemployment because of the unavoidable wind of globalization all over the world. Currently, The Global College is focusing on conducting programs, which are in a very high demand in the labour market hence playing part in the alleviation of poverty in our country and all over Africa in general.

Vision

To be an excellent and most successful in training in East Africa and World at large by providing quality Training, Research and Consultancy services in various fields like Business, Hospitality, Teaching and other related fields by employing dedicated, honest and highly qualified staff.

Mission

To provide high quality Training, Research and Consultancy services in various fields such as Business, Hospitality, Teaching and other related disciplines to both Public and Private Sectors. The function shall be provided in a cost-effective manner so as to enable self-sustaining.

Objectives

This course prepares you for a career in secretarial and clerical duties.

  • Providing high quality Training by increasing the number of graduates passing with upper second and above.
  • Increasing the number of graduates passing Professional Examinations.
  • Improving and Expanding Training programs so as to meet the challenges and demands of the current labour market.
  • Carrying out Research and Consultancy activities in order to contribute significantly to TGLB total budget and enrich Lecturers’ professional knowledge.
  • Maintaining adequate living environment by ensuring that physical facilities are in place so as to accommodate more students.
  • Developing & Motivating its employees.

Admission and Registration Procedures:

General information

All courses offered at TGLBC are open to both male and female students and local and foreign students. Applicants are required to prove to the management that they possess the required qualifications for the course program sought.

Our Intakes:

TGLBC has four main intakes each year on January 15th, April 15th, July 15th, and October 15th to meet the increasing labor market demand. Students must report within one month of the intake. Enrollment requires submission of academic documents and completion of immigration formalities for foreign students.

Application forms are available at all campuses (Vijana Hostel – Kinondoni, Nkrumah Street – City Center, Dar Es Salaam) and at the end of the Prospectus. Completed forms should be sent to THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR, THE GLOBAL COLLEGE, P.O BOX 75796, DAR ES SALAAM, with the applicant's name and address. Forms can also be submitted in person at the campuses in Dar Es Salaam.

Training Facilities
  1. TGLBC Library: The College has an independent library operating on a membership basis. A student must be an active member to have access, and membership is included in the academic fee for the year. The library operates Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
  2. TGLBC Computer Center: This independent center is supervised by skilled instructors and offers a good number of computers, providing basic Information Technology skills. Each enrolled student is entitled to IT programs free of charge.
Accommodation

Students wishing to stay at our hostels must make early reservations. Accommodation confirmation should be made before the new semester starts, as we have limited accommodation available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sports and Recreation

The College offers both indoor and outdoor games to keep students physically fit. A gym for physical exercise is also available at our campus at Vijana Hostel – Kinondoni. The College is linked with other training institutions for inter-college games conducted as per the respective institutions' schedules.

Student Organization

Global College Students Organization (GLOCSO) is the officially recognized organization representing all students. GLOCSO's mission is to provide social, recreational, and cultural activities, coordinate and voice collective wishes of students, and promote their educational welfare and interests. The President of GLOCSO is elected from among the students.

Regular Awards

Students who complete and fulfill the program requirements will be awarded a Certificate or Diploma from TGLBC, accredited by the Vocational Education & Training Authority.

Classification of Academic Awards
  1. The final standing of a candidate is determined by the weighted average for all subjects taken.
  2. The final award will be graded as First Class, Upper Second Class, Lower Second Class, and Pass.
  3. For each subject, the final examination will be converted into a letter grade as follows:

70%-100% A Excellent
60%-69% B+ Very Good
50%-59% B Good
40%-49% C Pass
0%-39% Fail

The letter grades will be converted into dummy scores as follows:

  • A = 5
  • B+ = 4
  • B = 3
  • C = 2
  • D = 1
  • E = 0
Class Cumulative Average
First Class A (5.0 – 4.5)
Upper Second Class B+ (4.4 – 3.5)
Lower Second Class B (3.4 – 2.6)
Pass C (2.5 – 2.0)

The cumulative average is calculated by dividing the total dummy scores by the number of subjects taken. Based on the cumulative average, the candidate will be placed in one of the above classes:
